Overcoming through Christ!

Hi all. Here is the cg sermon for the week. This is for the benefit of those who did not attend/ or were unable to cg meeting this week. :)

Matt 26:36-46- Jesus praying in the garden of gethsemane

The first thing Jesus encountered at the start of His ministry was temptation.

At the end of His ministry, before He went to the cross, Jesus was temptated again!

The whole temptation of Christ was a test of His determination to carry the cross throughout, believing for a resurrection; without taking any short-cut.

Jesus experienced the full impact of the temptation (body, soul and spirit)

v38- "Soul": He was overwhelmed with emotions
v41- "Spirit": His spirit was willing
v41- "Body": His flesh was weak

Matt 26:31
Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: ‘ I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’

In fact, all His disciples forsook Him, Jesus had to go to the cross alone!
- Likewise for us, when we are going through hard times, we have to take up our cross and sometimes, like Jesus, we have to walk alone.

The Promise Of The Holy Spirit

Romans 8:25-26
But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance. Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

God has given us the Holy Spirit.

The role of the Holy Spirit is to be our comforter.

In our weaknesses and during tough times, Pray.
  • Do not be discouraged when you walk alone
  • Rather, learn to lean on the Holy Spirit!
The Likeness Of Christ

Romans 8:26-30

Romans 8:29
For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.

"To be conformed" = to be identified with the death of Christ, leading to the same resurrection.

Romans 8:35-36
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “ For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”

What are we going to experience in this "death?"
- When we experience denial and betrayal.

The good news is that we can also overcome through Jesus' resurrection!

Matt 26:40
Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour?

Romans 1:1-4
Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God which He promised before through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures, concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh, and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.

How do we know that He is the Christ?
By His resurrection from the dead!

What is the gospel?
It is the death, bearer and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Our testimonies are important because they testify that He is a REAL, TRUE and LIVING God!
- And that He is still doing a work through us today.

Galatians 2:20 (New King James version)
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith IN the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

Galatians 2:20 (King James version)
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith OF the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Romans 3:22 (New King James version)
Even the righteousness of God, through faith IN Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference.

Romans 3:22 (King James version)
Even the righteousness of God which is by faith OF Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference.

Footnote:
- The NKJV version uses "faith in the Son of God."
- The KJV version uses "faith of Jesus Christ."

Therefore, we believe in the faith that Jesus has and we live by the faith of God.

John 20:30-31
And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

Jesus went through all these so that He could identify with us.

If you are:
  • going through a marriage crisis (Not applicable)
  • facing financial difficulties
  • sick in your body
Believe in the words of Jesus and you will have LIFE!

Hi all!!!! Wow, I can see that the blog atmosphere is certainly getting better now. Every1 seems 2 be more lively and active, haha. Thats gd... So lets keep it that way k? Lol

Anyway, i was came across this article the other day online and i thought i'll share it with u guys here :)
Its called the World's Top 10 Happiest Cities. For those of u who happen 2 be thinking of traveling 2 someplace special during your next vacation, u may consider placing these destinations on your travel shortlist. Winks*

So fasten your seatbelts ladies and gentlemen, and let pilot Qm* take u on a ride around the world.

Caution*: only take his flight when u have bought sufficient travel insurance and have written your will beforehand.

1st stop) Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Wha Qm!!! Why did u bring us to Brazil??? U crazy ar?!!!!

Haha, no I'm not. Rio de Janeiro is actually a very nice place. I guess not many of u have heard of this place b4 eh? So here we go:

A popular perception of Rio de Janeiro is that you will find many images of starry-eyed youngsters dancing into the dusk, backed by the beautiful sights of the mountains and dark sea. Well, its certainly not far from the truth for a city that's home to the annual Carnaval festival.
Known for its long stretch of beaches, a holiday in Rio de Janeiro is highly recommended for all of u sultry sun-lovers and revellers out there.

Travel price range - S$3,880 to S$5,707 (per person) LOL, i said it was nice but i didnt say that it was cheap...

2) Sydney, Australia

And now we have arrived to a place more familar to most of u... Sydney, Australia.

Famous for friendly locals and its iconic opera house, Sydney fared well for being a happy city as people are known to gather around for frequent barbeques. Haha, do i sense some of u food lovers being excited nw??? I heard the servings for the food there are pretty big too. Yummy, stomach growls*

Travel price range - S$1,307 to S$2,938 (per person)

3) Barcelona, Spain

Moving on, let me bring all of u 2 my fav continent; Europe. :) Or more specifically should i say, to the city of Barcelona.

Lively culture, warm weather and home to one of the best soccer teams in the world, such are the big draws for the city of Barcelona. Together with a population of 1,605,602 people, Barcelona has certainly lived up to its name of "the classic Mediterranean city."

Travel price range - S$1,150 to S$3,863 (per person)

4) Amsterdam, Netherlands

Lets move slightly north now, to Amsterdam, Netherlands.

After a few years’ pout, this beautiful city has regained its old identity of being quirky, creative and open-minded. This is indeed a far cry from the old days when there was a lot of crackdown on religious freedom and immigration there.
Today, this historical trading hub is now a chic metropolis, one where perceived happiness is abundant. The cafés are usually full, the museums are littered with Golden Age art and everyone there still parties like there’s no tomorrow. Amsterdam is a delight to visit at any time of year!

Travel price range - S$1,093 to S$4,493 (per person)

5) Melbourne, Australia

Lol, Crazy pilot! Bring us up and down and back to Australia again ........

Australia's second city, Melbourne, is home to a non-stop program of festivals, renowned dining, major art exhibitions and musical extravaganzas. Known as a style-setter, Melbourne also boasts many great events and is a passion for food and wine lovers. It makes the list of being a happy city because it's part of a well-liked nation.

Travel price range - S$1,000 to S$1,806 (per person)

6) Madrid, Spain

...... Nth 2 say abt this pilot

Spain's capital and largest city makes the list due to its vibrant culture and high standard of living. Its artistic activity and a very lively nightlife also helps to characterise Madrid as what it is today. In short, no city on earth is more alive than Madrid, a place whose sheer energy carries a simple message; this is one attractive city which really knows how to live.

Travel price range - S$1,231 to S$4,305 (per person)

7) San Francisco, America

Ok fine, i shall bring all of u 2 somewhere different this time. To the city of San francisco! And just for good measure, be sure 2 wear some flowers in your hair!! Btw, thats the lyrics of a really good old classic song way back in 1967. You can go wiki it if u like, haha.

The lone American metropolis, San Francisco makes the list because it's perceived by foreigners as the "most fun" among all of America's major cities. In fact, it is voted by many to be #1 city to visit in the United States. So whether is this your first or repeated trip to San Francisco, there will always be something new to do and see in this great city.

Travel price range - S$2,233 to S$2,682 (per person)

8) Rome, Italy

Ahh.. to ze romantic city of Rome. What ze way to chillz and relaxzz. LOL, mind the italian there

Rome, a unique city worldwide and home to one of the world's greatest ancient civillisations, is loaded with rich sense of history, artistic and architectural treasures. Visitors to this city cant help but admire the completely opposite styles of art and life there. In addition, Rome has a glorious feel to the city that it wears without reverence, something which promises to have you hooked when u visit it.

Travel price range - S$1,248 to S$4,305 (per person)

9) Paris, France

Next up, to the "City of Light," Paris, France.

Long considered the paragon of style, Paris is the most glamorous city in Europe. It has its fair share of humble beginings too, being once deeply traditional. While such contradictions and contrasts may be the reality of any city, they are the makings of Paris.
Today, Paris is one of the most beautiful, bustling and alive cities in the world. Its dynamic vibrancy gets a lot of hype but Paris will definately impress u and live up to its reputation of being one of the most unique and stunning places you've ever been to in your life.

Travel price range - S$1,122 to S$3,583 (per person)

10) Buenos Aires, Argentina

Finally to our last city of visit, Buenos Aires, Argentina! Once again, i take it that not many of u have heard of such a place b4 rite? Not to wry, a short summary of the city never kills...

Buenos Aires, Argentina's largest city, is a seductive world capital. Built by European immigrants, the city often surprises first time visitors with its close resemblance to parts of Barcelona, Paris, and Rome. Buenos Aires is also well known for its world-renowned culture and entertainment scenes. The city, as well as the inhabitants, is characterized by pride in its character and uniqueness. Thus, making the city a very pleasant place to visit all year-round.

Travel price range - S$3,284 to S$8,727 (per person) Give u a tip, don't visit any south american countries unless u are filthy rich. Haha

Ok and there u have, the World's Top 10 Happiest Cities. I hope all of u have found this article interesting and that it has given some of u ideas on where 2 go, on your next holiday vacation. =D

God bless and may all of u have a pleasant week ahead!

Cheers!!
